2008 became the point of no return: for the first time in history there are more people living in cities than in rural areas. Cities will grow even larger due to climate change and to environmental migrants, who are destined to become the new humanitarian emergency of the planet in the next few decades. According to a forecast by the United Nations, in 2050 the Earth will have to face the trauma depicted by 200 million “environmental migrants”: people who, according to the UN, will not “land” in the richer nations, but will look for new ways of livelihood in the urban areas of their home countries, which are already overcrowded and often extremely poor. The consequences are and will also be disastrous from a social, economical and environmental viewpoint for these cities. 90% of this kind of migration will occur literally in less developed countries, with relocation from rural areas to the more degraded areas of the city known as slums. What will happen is that the poorest countries, those who have least contributed to climate change, will be the worse hit by this phenomenon due to the lack of funds invested in alternative development policies in those areas which become inhabitable. The cities in these countries have already become victims of climate change and are destined to expand further due to unemployment, poverty and inhumane social conditions.

3rd International Forum on Food and Nutrition – Milan, November 30th – December 1st:
Peter Menzel with his photographic exhibition “What I Eat” takes us along a path with images on the relationship of humans with food.
With “What I Eat” Peter Menzel shows us the daily meals consumed by 80 people from 5 continents, going from 800 calories consumed in Kenya by a Masai warrior to 12,300 eaten in Great Britain by a housewife.

The Iimages on display at the Forum represent the eating habits of people of different geographical origins and then tell us about their identity and their culture through the bond that unites them to their food. A comparison among the different models of choice, consumption, and conservation of food preparation allows you to explore the experiences of everyday life and the choices of families throughout the world.

Through the evocative shots of Peter Menzel, the Barilla Center for Food & Nutrition the Forum gives voice to one of the paradoxes that have repeatedly been the focus of its studies and its analysis: access to food in underdeveloped countries and overeating in developed ones.

On the occasion of the 37th session of the Committee on World Food Security, since 17th to October 22nd, the Fao Headquarter in Rome will host a photographic exhibition that represents the most complete, scientific and striking work that has been ever realized. The show, realized in cooperation with Ferrarelle SpA and produced by LUZphoto, gathers a part of the entire work of the photographer Peter Menzel and writer Faith D’Aluisio, who gives back an analysis of the worldwide dietary habits, according to the geographic location and social standing.

In occasione della 68esima Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica di Venezia, LUZphoto celebra il grande cinema con una mostra fotografica per L’Oréal Paris: “Color Riche: l’emozione del colore”. Cinque grandi nomi della fotografia contemporanea reinterpretano cinque celebri scene di film icone degli anni ’50 e ’60. Gli scatti realizzati in bianco e nero hanno le labbra come unico tocco di colore. Piero Martinello ha celebrato “Venezia, la luna e tu” di Dino Risi (1958) con Alberto Sordi e Marisa Allasio; Julian Hargreaves “Rocco e i suoi fratelli” di Luchino Visconti (1960) con Alain Delon e Annie Girardot; Lorenzo Castore “Vacanze romane” di William Wyler (1953) con Gregory Peck e Audrey Hepburn; Annette Schreyer “La dolce vita” di Federico Fellini (1960) con Marcello Mastroianni e Anita Ekberg; Massimo Mastrorillo “Napoli, ieri oggi e domani”di Vittorio De Sica (1963) con Marcello Mastroianni e Sophia Loren. La mostra è esposta nella suggestiva isola pedonale del Lido di Venezia.
